Morehead City Fire-EMS Fire Marshal Jason Baker offers the following tips: -Ensure it is on a flat surface, and at least 10 feet away from buildings, trees and other flammable objects. -Make sure you follow the directions for the turkey fryer, and have the turkey completely thawed and dried off. -Measure the oil accordingly to avoid spill over and flames. -Never throw water on a grease fire! If you have a fire or medical emergency, call 9-1-1
